About The NYS Forum Project
The NYS Office for Technology and Office of the State CIO created state standards to improve the accessibility of state agency web sites for people with disabilities using assistive technology. A standards listing can be found at: http://www.nysforum.org/accessibility/resources/nyspolicy/index.html
The NYS Forum (http://www.nysforum.org) has been and continues to be instrumental in providing technical assistance in this effort and continues to work in partnership with the OFT/CIO to educate and support developers.
In an effort to continue The New York Forum’s ongoing commitment to improving access to government information and services, the Forum selected HiSoftware to provide solutions allowing for automated assistance in the area of Web Accessibility Compliance.
The Forum’s initiative includes unlimited State access to an online validation tool (Learn more about the Online Validation Tool at http://nysf.hisoftware.com), and a limited number of copies of HiSofware’s commercial offering AccRepair (NYS Desktop Validation Tool), with components to assist with NYS specific standards reporting: NYS MTS and Usability.
It is important to note that automated testing provides a base to test web content against standards. Some of the standard checkpoints call for visual or manual inspection to be performed.
